Der Weltkatzentag wird jedes Jahr am 8. August gefeiert, um unsere Katzenfreunde zu ehren und das Bewusstsein für ihr Wohlergehen zu schärfen. Er wurde 2002 vom Internationalen Tierschutzfonds ins Leben gerufen und ist eine perfekte Gelegenheit, Ihrer Katze zusätzliche Liebe zu schenken (als ob ihnen das Haus nicht schon gehören würde). Katzen sind seit Jahrtausenden unsere Begleiter, schenken uns Zuneigung, Unterhaltung und gelegentlich auch eine halb zerkaute Maus. Der Tag fördert auch die Aufnahme von Katzen, die verantwortungsvolle Tierhaltung und die Wertschätzung für die vielen skurrilen Persönlichkeiten, die Katzen in unser Leben bringen.

Um diesen Tag zu feiern, könnten Sie ein „formelles Abendessen” für Ihre Katze veranstalten, komplett mit einer kleinen Fliege und ausgefallenen Thunfisch-Horsd'œuvres. Organisieren Sie eine „Katzen-Yoga”-Sitzung, bei der Ihre Katze entweder auf der Matte ein Nickerchen macht oder Ihren „Herabschauenden Hund” bewertet. Versuchen Sie sich an einem DIY-Katzen-Fotoshooting mit albernen Requisiten wie Sonnenbrillen oder winzigen Kronen. Oder bauen Sie für maximale Unterhaltung eine „Katzenvilla” aus Pappkartons und beobachten Sie, wie Ihre Katze diese sofort ignoriert und stattdessen den Karton bevorzugt, in dem sie geliefert wurde.
